Words From The Blogger: It's Been A While

While I doubt there is anyone other than myself that checks out this blog (hell even I forget there are Facebook & Google+ pages associated with this) I shall say hello and, once again, explained my absence.

During the end of October I got some bad news that relates to my job and plans of carrying out a dream that I have had for so long, which was once again shattered, and this time for good. So my enthusiasm for completing the rest of the Halloween Countdown vanished as a result.

Following on from that was taking care of someone who had surgery in the beginning of November, which lead to two months looking after said person, rarely being home in the process. Not to mention that my health took a turn for the worse in December which lead me to be off work for the Xmas period. Even as I write this I had another hospital appointment earlier today.

Long story short (too late) I've had a lot on my plate, so my movie watching habits had no room for somewhat regular postings on this blog. As for the status of this blog, I've no idea at this point, but I would like to try and do something with it from time to time. Maybe a change in format and style which doesn't rely on extensive articles based around one film. As much fun as I have writing them, it's just a matter of finding the time that is the problem.

Nevertheless, I have one or two ideas to try out for my own amusement, and I do intend to finish the B-Movie Double Bills at some point. But whatever it may be.....I'm sure nobody will notice. But that's never been the one thing that stopped me to begin with.

Oh and Happy (belated) New Year!

And on a final note.....

Seems like an appropriate/obvious choice for this blog entry. Must listen to Break The Cycle again now that I think about it.

Words From The Blogger: Missing In Action

Okay I have been away for quite a while, so instead of the usual round up of films I've seen in between blog posts (because at this stage I haven't kept track but the number of which would be quite high), I will give a brief recap of what I've been up to. Even thought I'm more than likely the only person reading this blog, but I may as well, for those who somehow comes across this site.

Along with the usual hospital appointments and work commitments, I have had four trips to the dentist, of which the end result was a root canal done on my back tooth. I have also been to France for a week to attend the Hellfest music festival, which I needed a lot of time to recover afterwards. Not to mention that my home country has been experiencing an unexpected heatwave the past few weeks, as opposed to the odd weekend when the rain is a little bit warmer than usual.

Must check out Spring Breakers when it comes out on Blu-Ray
.....what? I heard it's a really good movie.....

On top of that, my personal life has become time consuming, but in a good way. Hence why I have not been able to come up with an article a week lately. So in an effort not to turn this blog into one of the many inactive ones on the internet, I am toying with the idea of providing an article every fortnight as opposed to weekly. But in order to get me back into the habit of writing, I may explore other ideas for articles.

In the meantime, I will keep things simple and just do the "double bill" style of article, as I find these much easier than articles dedicated to one film. I was in the process of posting an article a fortnight ago, but I later experienced a lot of pain with my back tooth, which lead to the aforementioned root canal. The choice of films I had are no longer on the American Netflix, as I watched them before they were removed.

Speaking of Netflix, I am currently unable to access the American version at this time. Whether it is a widespread issue in the UK, system updates by Sony or Netflix themselves, or if I'm finally blocked after all this time, I do not know. While I shouldn't be surprised by this unfortunate event and appreciate the fact that I have accessed it for this long, it still sucks. Especially when the UK version leaves a lot to be desired.

And on a final note.....

During my absence I have seen Man Of Steel in the cinema, which has to be one of the most disappointing films I've seen this year. And with the news of Batman showing up in the sequel; I will forgive Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer for Man Of Steel, as long as they don't F**K this one up.

Words From The Blogger: No Film Entry This Week (Or Next Week)

This Week In Movies: The Naked Gun (classic spoof movie), Primer (while I admire the attempt at a complex story with a minimal budget, the acting and confusing dialogue put me off at times), and Drag Me To Hell (can't believe it took me this long to see this, as it was very enjoyable, even if it was silly at times).

At time of writing I'm in LONDON BABY (to quote Joey from Friends) for the weekend. The purpose of my trip is to to see The Melvins play two shows, with a different set for each gig. Hopefully this trip to London is more successful and hassle free than last year (which I won't go into, incase I jinx myself). Hence why there's no film article this week. For those who secretly follow this blog, other than myself.

So if I was to mention something film related (other than the opening paragraph), I say go and watch Star Trek Into Darkness in the cinema whenever you can. In terms of cinema blockbusters, not only is it a great sci-fi action flick, even if you're not a Trekkie, but it pisses all over the very disappointing Iron Man 3.

Hey, may as well throw in an image from the movie.....what?

And on a final note.....

This is one of the albums that The Melvins will be playing in its entirety during the weekend; Stoner Witch.
